Role Description
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the business, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, compliance with GAAP, and effective cost and cash management. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and partners closely with business leadership to drive operational efficiency, improve profitability, and support strategic decision-making.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise a senior accountant, an accounts payable specialist and an accounts receivable specialist.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead all plant and corporate accounting and finance activities including cost accounting, inventory control, variance analysis, and month-end close.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and assist with forecasting and budgeting.
- Partner with plant leadership to drive cost improvements, productivity initiatives, and operational efficiencies.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls in compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
- Oversee inventory valuation, cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliation processes.
- Analyze manufacturing variances (labor, overhead, material) and provide actionable insights to operations.
- Calculate labor and overhead capitalization entries for WIP inventory
- Oversee the accounts receivable function and ensure timely billing and collections.
- Oversee the accounts payable function, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of vendor invoices and payments.
- Support capital expenditure analysis, tracking, and ROI reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, corporate policies, and audit requirements.
- Focal point for annual audit, including documentation and process improvements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop plant accounting staff
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
- 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in cost accounting and manufacturing finance.
- Experience in pharmaceutical packaging or other regulated manufacturing environments (preferred).
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
- CPA preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to partner effectively with operations and plant leadership.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high‑performing teams.
Base Salary: $185,000 - $205,000 per year
Bonus eligible.
