Responsibilities and Duties
- Following the physician around in clinic and documenting the entire physician-patient encounter using an electronic health record (EHR). This requires speedy typing skills, good computer navigation skills, and having to stand for most of the day. This is high-demand and interactive, but also a great learning experience!
- Professional communication with the doctors and other office staff.
- Learning medical terminology.
- Helping the medical assistants when necessary.
- Timely responses to messages and tasks sent by other staff.
- Department tasks such as faxing, scanning, mailing letters, and working through reports.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be able to type AT LEAST 50 wpm.
- Must have good grammar and spelling skills.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- High School Diploma/GED with some college.
