Met Lab Quality Technician, 3rd Shift (11:00PM - 7:10AM)
Starting Pay: $18.75/hour

The Met Lab Quality Technician performs metallurgical and performance testing on piston rings to ensure product quality and process reliability. This role is responsible for conducting tests, analyzing results, maintaining lab equipment, and supporting quality investigations and continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct metallurgical and performance testing to evaluate product quality
- Prepare samples and molds for testing and analysis
- Perform chemical and dimensional testing and record results accurately
- Analyze test data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement
- Generate reports including charts, tables, and findings to support corrective actions
- Calibrate and troubleshoot testing equipment in both lab and production environments
- Maintain sample retention and data records for lot control and traceability
- Interpret test results and collaborate with management to resolve quality concerns
- Develop and support work instructions and lab procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe lab environment and support continuous improvement efforts
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Climate-controlled laboratory environment with nearby production activity
- Noise level ranges from quiet to moderate
- Required PPE: gloves, safety glasses, and steel/metatarsal-toe shoes
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods
- Ability to handle parts and perform physical tasks as needed
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally (team lift for heavier items)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility for overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in metals or automotive
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data entry, basic analysis)
- Ability to read and interpret technical data; blueprint reading preferred
- Basic understanding of piston ring processes is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
