- Machinist’s Mate (MM)
- Hull Maintenance Technician (HT) with mechanical experience
- Damage Controlman (DC) with engineering systems exposure
Key Responsibilities
Engine Maintenance & Repair
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on marine diesel engines
- Diagnose mechanical issues and complete necessary repairs efficiently
- Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on propulsion systems
- Maintain and repair:
- Pumps, valves, and piping systems
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Fuel, cooling, and lubrication systems
- Identify system faults using technical manuals and diagnostic tools
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Follow all safety procedures and operational standards
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Ensure compliance with maintenance documentation and reporting
Qualifications
- Prior service in the United States Navy (required)
- Experience working on marine diesel engines and shipboard systems
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
Preferred Experience
- Background as EN, MM, DC, or related engineering rate
- Experience in:
- Shipyards, maritime operations, or heavy equipment repair
- Commercial marine or industrial diesel engines
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs
Work Environment
- Shipyard, dockside, or marine industrial environments
- Exposure to noise, heat, confined spaces, and mechanical equipment
- May require physical activity including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods
