Job Title: Route Driver - Hospital Laundry Services

Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Route Driver to join our essential team within a fast-paced hospital laundry operation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the efficient and safe transportation of soiled and clean linen to and from various healthcare facilities. This critical role ensures our hospital partners receive timely, high-quality linen service, directly contributing to patient care and facility hygiene. The position requires a strong understanding of commercial driving, adherence to strict safety and infection control protocols, and exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

• Safely operate various types of commercial trucks for the scheduled pickup of soiled linen and delivery of clean, processed linen to hospital clients.
• Navigate assigned routes efficiently, adhering strictly to pre-determined delivery and pick-up schedules to meet hospital operational needs.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all safety and regulatory compliance standards are met, with particular attention to sanitation and hygiene.
• Manage the loading and unloading of linen carts/bags, potentially utilizing specialized equipment or manual handling, ensuring proper segregation of soiled and clean items.
• Maintain accurate delivery records, including manifests, logs, and receipts, and utilize route tracking systems (e.g., Samsara ELD, if applicable).
• Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatchers, hospital linen staff, and supervisors regarding delivery status, unexpected delays, or any issues encountered.
• Ensure strict compliance with all local, state, and federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, as well as internal company safety, hygiene, and infection control protocols specific to healthcare linen transport.
• Adhere to procedures for handling and containing soiled linen to prevent cross-contamination.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Proven experience in commercial truck driving or as a dedicated delivery driver is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with route driving and knowledge of local roadways within the Louisville metropolitan area and surrounding regions.
• Previous experience operating forklifts or pallet jacks is beneficial.
• A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for this position (specify class if applicable, e.g., Class B).
• Strong attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to safety protocols, particularly those related to vehicle operation and infection control in a healthcare environment.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy linen carts.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a professional demeanor.
