Position Summary
Novel Prep is seeking a motivated and bilingual (Mandarin/English) Academic Advisor Trainee to join our growing team. This entry-level role is designed for individuals who are passionate about education, student success, and family engagement. Through structured training and mentorship, the Academic Advisor Trainee will learn how to support students and families in academic planning, educational consulting, and program enrollment.
This position offers hands-on experience working with students and parents while developing professional skills in academic advising, customer service, educational consulting, and student success management. No prior academic advising experience is required; training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Student & Family Support
- Assist Academic Advisors in supporting students and families throughout their educational journey
- Participate in consultations with students and parents to understand academic goals and needs
- Learn to evaluate students' academic backgrounds and educational objectives
- Assist in developing personalized academic support plans
- Build positive and professional relationships with students and families
- Provide exceptional customer service and support throughout the student experience
Academic Success Coordination
- Monitor student attendance, participation, and academic progress
- Assist with tracking student performance and maintaining accurate records
- Coordinate communication between students, families, instructors, and advisors
- Support the implementation of academic intervention strategies when needed
- Help ensure students remain on track toward their academic goals
Enrollment & Family Engagement Support
- Support consultations with prospective families interested in Novel Prep programs
- Learn program offerings, academic pathways, and educational services
- Assist with enrollment, onboarding, and student registration processes
- Participate in retention initiatives and family follow-up activities
- Help identify opportunities to enhance the student and family experience
Administrative & Communication Support
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and advising activities
- Prepare reports, meeting notes, and follow-up communications
- Schedule appointments and coordinate meetings with students and families
- Respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain confidentiality of student and family information
Training & Professional Development
- Participate in structured training programs and mentorship opportunities
- Learn best practices in academic advising, educational consulting, and student success
- Develop knowledge of college admissions and educational planning
- Demonstrate continuous professional growth and a commitment to learning
- Attend team meetings, workshops, and company training sessions
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Business, Communications, or a related field
- Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English (verbal and written)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
