Essential Responsibilities
HSE Leadership & Program Management
- Serve as the site lead and subject matter expert for all health, safety, and environmental programs
- Evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve performance and compliance
- Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe acts, conditions, or practices are identified
- Partner with leadership to establish HSE goals, priorities, and performance expectations
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and organizational HSE requirements
- Maintain required documentation, records, permits, and reporting obligations
- Conduct facility inspections, audits, and compliance assessments
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to identify, assess, and mitigate risks
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning
- Support and administer Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) initiatives
- Manage workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work coordination activities
- Support contractor safety management and compliance programs
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees, supervisors, managers, and contractors
- Facilitate new hire safety orientation and onboarding programs
- Conduct safety awareness campaigns and ongoing workforce education initiatives
- Assess organizational training needs and develop targeted learning solutions
- Standardize HSE processes, documentation, and reporting methodologies
- Participate in policy reviews, procedural updates, and management system improvements
- Support budgeting, planning, and resource allocation for HSE initiatives
- Provides leadership and oversight to site-level HSE personnel
- Serves as a trusted advisor to plant leadership and operational management
- Collaborates with corporate leadership, operations, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in: Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, Engineering, or related discipline required
- Preferred certifications include:
- ASP (Associate Safety Professional)
- GSP (Graduate Safety Practitioner)
- CHSC (Certified Health and Safety Consultant)
- MSO or equivalent safety certification
- Minimum 5 years of progressive HSE leadership experience required
- Experience within manufacturing, industrial, construction, or related environments preferred
- Demonstrated experience leading incident investigations, root cause analyses, hazard assessments, risk mitigation initiatives, and safety training programs
- Experience working with regulatory agencies and compliance requirements
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance requirements
- Understanding of environmental regulations and industrial safety standards
- Experience with Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) programs
- Knowledge of hazard analysis, job safety analysis, and risk assessment methodologies
- Familiarity with workers’ compensation and contractor safety programs
- Understanding of continuous improvement and operational excellence principles
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
- Ability to influence all levels of the organization
- Effective organizational and project management skills
