What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Lab Manager (Concrete/Soils) position at NOVA Engineering and Environmental, LLC?
NOVA Engineering is currently seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Manager to join our team in Charlotte, NC The Lab Manager will manage the lab's production and personnel and provide quality assurance/quality control lab testing duties for commercial, retail, educational, low—to high-rise, manufacturing, and government construction projects.
Essential Functions
- Performing specific QA/QC tests on construction materials and building components such as soil, concrete, and asphalt, per ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, etc. standards
- Maintain detailed records of observations, inspections, and test results
- Organizing lab data, processing, and report preparation
- Calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment and workspaces
- Manage lab personnel and maintain required certifications among the laboratory team
- Maintaining lab accreditation
Qualification
- 5 Experience in a Construction Materials Testing Laboratory testing and sampling
- ACI Strength Testing and ACI Aggregate Testing Certifications are required
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written
- Strong project management abilities, including managing multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
