NOVA Engineering is seeking a CMT Lab Technician to join our Construction Materials Testing department in Panama City Beach, FL. This position is primarily laboratory-based and will focus on breaking concrete cylinders and recording concrete strength and quality results as part of NOVA’s quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) testing program. Occasional field assignments may be required.
This role is well-suited for entry-level candidates interested in hands-on laboratory work and long-term career development in construction materials testing. NOVA provides on-the-job training and support for obtaining industry certifications.
Responsibilities:
- Perform concrete compressive strength testing by breaking concrete cylinders in accordance with ASTM/ACI standards
- Accurately record, document, and report test results to verify material quality and compliance
- Maintain clear and organized laboratory records using electronic reporting systems
- Assist with proper curing, storage, handling, and preparation of concrete test specimens
- Maintain, calibrate, and care for laboratory testing equipment
- Follow all company safety policies and laboratory procedures
- Collect concrete samples and assist with basic field observations as needed
- Communicate test results with Project Managers, engineers, and laboratory staff
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding field work
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
Preferred Certifications and Experience (Not Required):
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
- ACI Aggregate Testing Technician
- ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician - Level I
- ICC special inspector certifications (Soils, Reinforced Concrete, Masonry)
- Prior CMT field and laboratory testing experience
Entry-Level Candidates Welcome to Apply:
