Dance Instructor – Beginner & Early Childhood Dance Specialist
Overview
We are seeking a passionate, patient, and energetic Dance Instructor to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded dance educator with experience teaching a variety of dance styles, including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, musical theater, technique, creative movement, and other introductory dance forms. This position is focused primarily on teaching beginner dancers, including children as young as 2 years old, and helping students build a strong technical foundation while developing a love for dance.
We are looking for an instructor who excels at working with young children, understands age-appropriate learning methods, and can create a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment for students with little to no dance experience.
Duties
- Teach beginner-level dance classes in a variety of styles, including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, musical theater, technique, and creative movement.
- Instruct students ranging from ages 2 and up, adapting lessons to meet developmental and age-specific needs.
- Create engaging lesson plans that introduce fundamental dance concepts, coordination, musicality, and classroom etiquette.
- Foster a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere where students feel confident exploring movement and learning new skills.
- Use positive reinforcement and age-appropriate teaching methods to keep young dancers motivated and engaged.
- Choreograph beginner-friendly routines for recitals, showcases, and studio performances.
- Communicate professionally with parents regarding student progress, class expectations, and studio events.
- Maintain classroom structure while ensuring a fun and enjoyable learning experience.
- Collaborate with fellow instructors and studio staff to support studio events and educational initiatives.
Qualifications
- Previous experience teaching dance, particularly beginner-level students and young children.
- Experience teaching children as young as 2 years old is required.
- Strong knowledge of multiple dance styles, including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, musical theater, and technique.
- Ability to break down foundational dance concepts for students with no prior dance experience.
- Patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic personality with a genuine love for working with children.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
