Dance Instructor – Tap Dance Specialist
Overview
We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated Tap Dance Instructor to join our growing dance faculty. The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years of dance teaching experience, with a strong background in tap dance and a commitment to inspiring dancers of all ages and skill levels. This role involves creating engaging lesson plans, teaching proper tap technique and performance skills, fostering a positive learning environment, and helping students develop confidence, discipline, and artistry through dance.
Duties
- Teach tap dance classes for a variety of age groups and skill levels, from beginner through advanced dancers.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and curriculum that promote technical growth, musicality, rhythm, and performance quality.
- Choreograph routines for recitals, showcases, competitions, and other studio performances as needed.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage continued development.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes creativity, teamwork, and self-confidence.
- Maintain classroom structure and uphold studio policies while ensuring student safety and engagement.
- Collaborate with fellow instructors and studio leadership to support performances, special events, and studio initiatives.
- Communicate professionally with parents, students, and staff regarding student progress and class expectations.
- Attend faculty meetings, rehearsals, and studio events as required.
Qualifications
- 5–10 years of dance teaching experience, with a strong emphasis on tap dance instruction.
- Extensive knowledge of tap technique, rhythm training, musicality, choreography, and performance preparation.
- Experience teaching children, teens, and adults in a studio setting.
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans that accommodate a variety of learning styles and abilities.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive, energetic, and professional demeanor.
- Experience with recital, competition, or performance choreography is highly preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
