Position Summary:

The College Committee Members (CCM) report to the Director of Community Engagement and work closely with the CAP Coordinator, Learning and Community Engagement (LCE) museum staff, contracted teaching artists, and LCE audiences, including visitors participating in the Community Access Program (CAP). The CCM meets bi-weekly to discuss topics related to art and community engagement. Members assist with museum tours, lead and support art activities in the community, help raise awareness of the museum and its programming, and contribute to the publication of Palm Zine: College Students’ Perspective on Art Community. The CCM serves as ambassadors for the museum, bringing its programs and mission into the community.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with tours and art activities for the Community Access Program (CAP) groups at the museum and off-site.
  • Represent the museum at internal and community-facing events as needed.
  • Complete bi-weekly assignments, including readings, written reflections, object research, art-making demonstrations, and oral presentations.
  • Prepare classroom areas and materials before art activity programs. Clean up the classroom after art activities.
  • Aid in maintaining art supply inventory.
  • Assist with creating and scheduling content for social media, highlighting College Committee work.
  • Participate in workshops with teaching artists to use digital cameras, InDesign, and Lightroom software to design the Zine project.
  • Assist in data collection of program surveys.
  • Working with the Learning and Community Engagement Department staff and other programs.
  • Collaborate with docents to lead spotlight talks in the galleries.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university.
  • Demonstrated interest in art education, museums, or community-based programs.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Reliable, organized, and collaborative.
  • Bring a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a willingness to collaborate with co-workers and participants.
  • Show initiative, reliability, and a commitment to learning and growing in a museum environment.
  • Be open to feedback and actively engage in group discussions, workshops, and public events.
  • Be flexible and adaptable in dynamic, creative work settings.
  • Be willing to learn new software and creative tools (InDesign, Lightroom, digital cameras).
  • Have reliable transportation to commute to the museum and offsite program locations.
  • Have access to a laptop for assignments and meetings.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States and be able to pass a background check.
  • Having prior experience in arts, education, or public engagement is a plus but not required.
  • Be bilingual in English and Spanish and/or Haitian Creole (preferred, not required)

Hours & Compensation:

  • Variable schedule; Days, Nights, Weekends (June 1st, 2026 - July 31st, 2026)
  • Temporary, Non-Exempt
  • Compensation: $17.00/h

Location Requirements:

At the time of employment, employees are expected to be located within reasonable commuting distance of the museum. Commuting Distance means they are located in South Florida, and able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
