Each library faculty position includes three major areas: functional responsibilities, research and instruction responsibilities, and liaison responsibilities.
Functional Responsibilities For Access Services Librarian Include
- Coordinating aspects of collection management operations including cataloging and processing of all collections (monographs including eBooks, periodicals, media & government documents)
- Collaborating with other library faculty on selection & maintenance of digital resources, including troubleshooting access issues utilizing vendor admin and authentication platforms
- Supervising Collection Management staff
- Overseeing the integrated library system (OPALS)
- Coordinating all aspects of interlibrary loan services
- Managing the online NNU Institutional Repository
- Ensuring that the library adheres to all regulations of the Federal Depository Library Program
- Other responsibilities as assigned
- Serving regularly scheduled hours at the Research Help Desk including some evening and “on-call” hours
- Providing general research assistance through scheduled consultations, phone, email, chat, and onsite referrals
- Providing library instruction in both face-to-face and online environments for assigned academic departments/programs
- Developing online instructional guides in collaboration with the Instruction and Research Services Librarian
- Collection management for assigned academic departments/programs
- Working collaboratively with faculty to develop appropriate information literacy/learning activities
- Promoting library resources and services for all users
- Creatively engaging with the Learning Commons partners to enhance services
Minimum Qualifications
- ALA accredited MLS/MLIS or equivalent required
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively and work efficiently with faculty in a variety of disciplines
- Evidence of leadership in collaborative activities
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to respond efficiently to changing needs and priorities
- Awareness of developing technologies and tools appropriate for library applications
- Familiarity with integrated library systems
- Experience in an academic library
- Teaching experience at the college/university level
- Strong customer service background
- Experience using the Springshare suite of online products
- Experience and familiarity with OPALS
- Experience in a learning commons environment
