Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately file, retrieve, scan, and maintain patient medical records in accordance with hospital policy.
- Ensure records are complete, organized, and compliant with regulatory standards.
- Process requests for medical records in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Verify patient information and documentation for accuracy.
- Assist with record audits and chart deficiency tracking.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient health information.
- Support providers and departments with timely chart access and documentation needs.
- Prepare records for long-term storage or destruction per retention policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience:
- Previous experience in medical records, health information management, or a healthcare setting preferred.
- Experience with EMR systems preferred.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic computer proficiency
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Effective communication skills
