The Perioperative RN provides nursing care to surgical patients before, during, and after operative procedures. This role ensures patient safety, supports the surgical team, and promotes optimal surgical outcomes through adherence to established clinical standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in the perioperative setting, including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases

Prepare patients for surgical procedures, including assessments, documentation, and patient education

Maintain sterile techniques and ensure adherence to infection prevention protocols

Assist surgeons and surgical team members during operative procedures

Monitor patient status throughout surgical procedures and recovery

Ensure surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and functioning properly

Communicate effectively with physicians, anesthesia providers, and surgical team members

Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record

Support patient safety initiatives and quality improvement efforts

Provide postoperative patient care and monitoring in the recovery phase as required

Respond appropriately to emergent clinical situations

Maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards

Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN required)
Licensure/Certifications: Current Mississippi Registered Nurse license or Compact State license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- ACLS preferred
- CNOR certification preferred
Experience: One (1) or more years of perioperative or operating room nursing experience preferred. Experience in acute care surgical services strongly preferred.
