The individual filling this position is expected to provide law enforcement duties across the Northwest Florida State College Campus.
Campus Police Officers are directly accountable to the Chief of Police/Executive Director - Campus Safety & Security for the following duties and responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Abide by the Oath of Office and Code of Ethics.
- Patrol Campus buildings and grounds.
- Enforce laws, rules, and regulations on campus.
- Ensure timely communication with dispatch and supervisors.
- Lock and unlock doors.
- Report observed safety hazards.
- Provide escort services on campus.
- Establish public relations and provide general information.
- Provide written reports on investigations, complaints, security incidents etc.
- Collect, prepare, and document evidence for testifying in court.
- As a part of the college's risk management tool annual mandatory compliance training is required.
- Perform administrative and other police officer's tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma required; Associate's degree preferred.
- Completion of a Florida Approved Law Enforcement Basic Recruit Training program required.
- Passing score on the Florida State Officer Certification Exam required.
- Knowledge of current principles and practices of law enforcement.
- Must pass background investigation, physical examination and drug testing.
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License.
- Law Enforcement field experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred.
