Location: Glen Lake Middle School Position Type: Long-Term Substitute (WillSub Position) Position: Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Start Date: September 8, 2026 End Date: December 18, 2026 At Glen Lake Middle School, we believe that strong relationships, engaging instruction, and meaningful learning experiences create the foundation for student success. Position Overview: Glen Lake Middle School is seeking a long-term substitute teacher to teach Middle School English Language Arts (ELA). The ideal candidate is passionate about literacy instruction, skilled in building positive student relationships, and committed to helping students develop as thoughtful readers, effective writers, critical thinkers, and confident communicators. This position includes working closely with a collaborative team of educators to ensure instructional continuity, student engagement, and academic success. Key Responsibilities: ? Deliver engaging, standards-aligned English Language Arts instruction aligned with district curriculum and Michigan Academic Standards. ? Foster a classroom environment that promotes curiosity, collaboration, creativity, and respectful discussion. ? Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of middle school learners. ? Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and support to promote growth. ? Guide students in developing reading comprehension, writing, speaking, listening, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills. ? Collaborate with grade-level and content-area teams to align instruction and share best practices. ? Maintain clear communication with students, families, and staff. ? Create and maintain a positive, organized classroom environment that supports student learning and success. ? Attend staff meetings, parent/teacher/student conferences, and other activities relevant to the position. Qualifications: ? Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (preferred) or substitute teaching permit. ? English Language Arts endorsement (preferred) or related field. ? Experience teaching middle school students preferred. ? Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. ? Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom community. ?
