Internship Program
NorthRock’s internship program attracts top undergraduate students seeking meaningful exposure to the Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) industry. Over the course of 12 weeks, interns gain hands-on experience, contribute to impactful projects, and engage directly with leaders and professionals across the firm.
Interns are valued members of their teams, building skills, professional confidence, and industry knowledge while exploring potential career paths within financial services.
Due to the nature of internship responsibilities, this person must be located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, as this internship requires an in-office presence at our downtown Minneapolis office location.
About the Role
The People Team Intern will work closely with our HR professionals to support initiatives that enhance the employee experience and drive operational excellence. From helping with recruitment to assisting in onboarding and engagement activities, this role offers a comprehensive introduction to HR in a fast-paced, values-driven environment.
What You Will Do
- Assist in posting job openings, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates
- Prepare onboarding materials, help facilitate new hire orientation, and track onboarding progress
- Maintain employee records and databases to ensure data accuracy and compliance
- Support training and development efforts by creating presentation materials and helping coordinate sessions
- Draft and prepare HR policies, reports, and communications
- Assist in planning employee engagement initiatives such as events, surveys, and wellness activities
- Participate in People Team projects such as performance management, employee feedback, or culture initiatives
- Provide general administrative support, including filing, managing correspondence, and handling employee inquiries
What You Bring
- Actively pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in HR
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Positive attitude, eager to learn, and comfortable working independently or collaboratively
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a credit and criminal background check is required
Compensation & Benefits
The hourly rate for this role is $20.00 per hour. This role is also eligible for Employee Sick & Safe Time (ESST). For more details on ESST, visit the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry's website.
