SUMMARY: Northern Oklahoma College is seeking a Head Coach to lead a competitive NJCAA Cheer program. The Cheerleading Coach is primarily responsible for teaching, instructing and implementing skills and strategy for choreographing cheer routines to the competitive cheerleading squad. The Coach is responsible for setting and conducting practice times after academic classes and supervising the team at competitions, men’s and women’s basketball games and wrestling matches.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include:

• Responsible for teaching, instructing, and implementing skills and strategy in practice.
• Establish schedules and make travel arrangements.
• Responsible for administration of operational budget.
• Choreograph and teach cheer routines to the cheerleading squad.
• Assist in fundraising and development.
• Monitor academic advisements and progress of student-athletes on team with particular attention to satisfactory progress toward degree and graduation.
• Coordinate with Enrollment Management office for new and returning student enrollment dates
• Represent the College in meetings, which pertain to cheer and athletics.
• Responsible for practice and preparation.
• Ensure that all actions of coaches and student-athletes of said team are performed with the appropriate level of instruction, safety precautions, and training and that the physical well-being of everyone is taken into account in all that is done as a member of the program.
• Provide leadership in establishing, regulating, publicizing and enforcing all team and institution regulations regarding personal conduct.
• Develop and coordinate a successful program for student-athlete recruitment and scholarships.
• Be responsible for the care of all athletic equipment and uniforms used.
• Attend and participate in a minimum of one competition per year.
• Keep the Director of Athletics notified of all changes in the team roster.
• Compliance Responsibilities: Insure that NJCAA and College policies and mandated requirements are correctly interpreted and met, and that documentation is maintained per Athletic Department policies and procedures.
• Subject to satisfactory Fair Credit Reporting Act Disclosure which includes a criminal background check
• Other duties as assigned to promote the mission of the college.

QUALIFICATIONS: Cheer coaching experience required. Must have extensive training and experience in cheerleading and choreography. Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and initiative, as well as the ability to perform within a dynamic team environment. Must possess a valid driver’s license. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: The preferred candidate must have a minimum of an associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. If candidate does not have the associates degree, completion within a 2-year time frame from date of hire will be required to continue employment.
