Business Development Strategy Specialist
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sales Duties in Support of Sales Team Leadership
- Coordinate sales effort with team members and other internal departments.
- Provide strategic data-driven support to all levels of Sales team focused upon achieving Company-wide sales targets and net margin outcomes within budget schedule.
- Provide Departmental and inter-Departmental strategic insights developing new business opportunities in new and existing channels while servicing existing business
- Integral support for the Sales Department’s successful efforts to establish, manage, develop, and maintain strong, positive business relationships with existing and new accounts
- As called upon to support, effectively prepare and/or present new program proposals, including new product introductions
- Onboard new customers, managing customer contract requirements (billing, reporting, shipping, allowances etc.)
- Identify customer needs, understand their goals; present and offer creative value-added solutions
- Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints to maximize satisfaction.
- Provide insights, data, and support to follow-up meetings with customers as needed to review performance of current program and strategize on expansion / growth.
- Facilitate resolution of operational issues to ensure compliance and minimize chargebacks.
- Utilize leads database and software to keep funnel constantly full of new leads.
- Manage leads and opportunities in Monday.com or other CRM software
- Develop a working knowledge of Northern Light’s product lines and capabilities
- Learn and master all accounts provided reporting tools and Supplier websites.
- Setup internal processes to onboard new customers into new channels that do not fit within existing company structure.
- Thought Leadership Duties
- Maintain awareness of industry trends
- Keep abreast of best practices and product trends.
- Forecast, track profitability, and provide progress reports on a bi-annual basis
- Determine potential profit and costs associated with each opportunity through strategic quantitative analysis via excel
- Identify improvements for future seasons and work with product development and operations to implement solutions
- Inter-Departmental Duties & Communication
- Work with internal departments to create presentations for customer meetings
- Coordinate with item setup team and EDI team to ensure timely turnarounds
- Collaborate on pricing parameters for new customer programs
- Ensure that customer orders are shipped and that production facilities have the right information to process the orders.
- Coordinate a hand-off of programs to planning / operations, including accurate and timely communication of customer buying decisions, volumes, timeline, and shipping parameters
- Communicate progress through the company
- Other Duties
- Always promotes a positive company image in house and while traveling.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Attend Trade Shows, sales calls / meetings as needed
- Capacity to serve as sales manager backup in the case of any short-term or long-term absences.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree AND/OR 2 years of inside/outside sales (preferably CPG) experience
- Demonstrated skills in achieving sales and profitability goals
- Understanding of Account buying cycles, margin expectations, and sell-thru expectations
- Business Math ability (understanding margins, mark-up, etc.)
- Demonstrated Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Availability to travel and work outside of regularly scheduled work hours. Overnight domestic travel required (10-20%).
***This is a part time (not to exceed 29 hours per week) office hourly ($21.01 - $24.16 per hour), hybrid role located in Wellsville, NY***
