Role Summary
The Associate Scientist for proteins will be engaged in planning, conducting, and analyzing laboratory-based experiments. Uses fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of molecular biology to perform scientific research tasks requiring the application of established techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Role Responsibilities
- Conduct quantitative ELISA analysis to support method development, qualification, and validation.
- Conduct sample lysis and sample analysis of various biological matrices in support of preclinical and clinical studies
- Assist in the process of developing, optimizing, qualifying, and validating new assays
- Write and review SOPs and methods
- Communicate with management regarding project issues, changes, and requirements
- Maintain laboratory and freezer inventory, manage instrumentation maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Mentor and guide junior laboratory technicians
- Other duties as assigned
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline required. A Master’s degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience with a wide variety of biochemistry and molecular biology methods for protein analysis including ELISA. A combination of education and experience may be accepted.
- Experience with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and other federal regulations
- Solid understanding of study design and protocols
- Solid understanding of laboratory operations and data collection
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office core applications and the ability to learn and use additional applications.
- Self-starter, able to prioritize work, and work efficiently with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to design, interpret, and present scientific data.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Special Requirements
- The person filling this position will spend approximately 80% in an office setting and 20% in the laboratory. There will be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There will be handling of, and/or exposure to, animal tissue and zoonotic organisms.
- Ability to don and wear personal protective gear, including N95 masks and respirators.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
