What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Manager position at Northbound Executive Search?
We are partnering with a leading financial services firm seeking an Accounting Manager with a blend of public accounting and private industry experience, ideally with exposure to fixed income, credit, or loan products.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee accounting and financial reporting for fixed income / credit portfolios, including loans and related instruments
- Manage the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Review and analyze investment activity, including interest income, amortization/accretion, and loan-related transactions
- Ensure accurate accounting treatment for loan positions and credit instruments
- Partner with internal teams including Investment, Operations, and Treasury on portfolio activity and reporting
- Support preparation of financial statements and work closely with auditors during audit cycles
- Assist with process improvements, controls, and system enhancements
- Mentor and oversee junior accounting staff as needed
Qualifications:
- 5–8 years of accounting experience with a mix of public accounting (Big 4 or similar) and financial services industry experience
- Experience with fixed income, loans, private credit, or credit instruments strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting and financial reporting
- Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
