Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller Opportunity
Join a highly regarded, limited-production Napa Valley winery known for its history of excellence and commitment to quality. This role offers the chance to take on a key leadership position within a collaborative, hands-on environment, working closely with senior leadership to support both strategic planning and day-to-day financial operations.
You’ll be part of a small finance and operations team, partnering cross-functionally across the organization. The position requires a balance of tactical execution and strategic thinking, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, communication, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily accounting operations including cash management, AP/AR, payroll, inventory, and fixed assets
Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis; monitor performance against plan
Maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance with applicable regulations (sales/use tax, excise tax, etc.)
Partner with operations to support inventory, order fulfillment, and direct-to-consumer and wholesale channels
Assist with systems and IT coordination as needed
Communicate key financial insights and issues to senior leadership
Qualifications
3–5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience; CPA preferred
Strong understanding of financial reporting, controls, budgeting, and cash management
Experience in a product-based or regulated industry (wine industry a plus)
Hands-on experience with accounting systems (e.g., ERP platforms, reporting tools)
Proven ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a lean environment
