At NorthBay Healthcare the Senior Accountant works under minimal supervision to produce and analyze accurate and timely financial statements for all assigned NorthBay Healthcare companies, divisions, and/or general ledger accounts.
The Senior Accountant manages a specialized area of concentration as assigned. Concentration areas include, but are not limited to, Fixed Assets, Accounts Receivable, Capitation, Costing and Accounting for Affiliates.

Compensation Structure
NorthBay Health uses a structured compensation framework. Staff-level positions use a step-based system (Steps 1–5) based on years of directly related experience, with Step 5 representing 20 or more years of experience in the role. Manager level and above positions are paid a fixed annual base salary and are eligible for a variable incentive compensation plan. Physician compensation is structured based on specialty and role requirements.

The Senior Accountant manages a specialized area of concentration as assigned. Concentration areas include, but are not limited to, Fixed Assets, Accounts Receivable, Capitation, Costing and Accounting for Affiliates.
Primary Job Duties
- Manages area of concentration: includes related general ledger subsystem, software, and related reporting. May involve supporting the preparation of related budget schedules.
- Fixed Asset concentration assesses and prepares ROI proforma for capital requisitions that require board approval.
- Prepares advanced monthly journal entries. Reviews, analyzes, and interprets assigned monthly financial statements, reports and all related sub-schedules for use by management.
- Prepares monthly account analysis and reconciliation of all assigned general ledger accounts. May include cross review of other concentrations.
- Assists outside consultants with the preparation of annual audit and tax reports and prepares requested schedules.
- Evaluates and implements appropriate internal control procedures to assure that the financial transactions of the corporation are appropriately and accurately recorded in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Assists management with other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. in Accounting or equivalent experience.
- CPA preferred.
- 5 or more years hospital accounting experience, with prior experience related to area of concentration.
- Able to work effectively under tight time constraints.
- Must be able to analyze complex accounting and operational problems and be able to recommend viable solutions to those problems.
- Must be able to initiate procedural changes in response to changes in the external environment.
- Demonstrated ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles.
- Demonstrated ability to make appropriate independent judgments on subjective accounting estimates.
- Must be able to assess the reasonableness of the results of their own work and/or the work of their subordinates.
- P.C. Skills: Expert level Windows and Office (emphasis in Excel).
- Concentration software experience including StrataJazz, Keane (NTT), Kaufman Hall, Easy Cap or others.
- Demonstrated ability to work with Lawson general ledger systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High comfort level with dealing with all levels of management, including Senior Management.
