What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Literacy/ESL Paraprofessional position at North Reading School District?
North Reading Public Schools has an anticipated opening for two (2) part-time Early Literacy Paraprofessionals for Summer 2026. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential.
In this role you will support student learning for for 2-3 hours per day, three (3) days per week, Tuesday through Thursday, from August 11, 2026 through August 20, 2026. This position is an in-person, temporary, summer position.
Essential duties
- Assist educators in creating an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
- Provide assistance to students in instructional activities
- Facilitate establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior
- Support Tutor with preparation of instructional materials
- Provide assistance to the Tutor and staff in the daily management of the program
- Assume other duties/responsibilities as designated by the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning, Literacy Tutor, and/or Designee
Requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and problem solve independently
- At least two (2) years of relevant experience preferred
- This may include background in education including college and/or work experience
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
Final stipend amount dependent on student enrollment.
