JV2/Assistant Field Hockey Coach

Job Title: JV2 / Assistant Field Hockey Coach School: North Middlesex Regional High School Location: 19 Main St, Townsend, MA 01469 Job Description: North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a JV2 / Assistant Field Hockey Coach to support all levels of the high school field hockey program. This coach will work in close collaboration with the Head and JV Coaches to help develop younger or less experienced student-athletes, promote skill development, and foster a love of the game in a supportive, inclusive, and education-based environment. This is a key developmental role focused on fundamentals, confidence-building, and program continuity. Key Responsibilities: Athlete Development: Provide daily instruction in field hockey fundamentals including stick work, positioning, and game rules. Foster a learning-focused environment where athletes of all abilities can grow and succeed. Team Culture & Mentorship: Promote a positive, respectful, and team-oriented culture consistent with the values of the field hockey program. Serve as a role model, mentor, and source of encouragement for student-athletes. Practice & Game Support: Assist in running practices and drills under the direction of the Head and JV Coaches. Lead or coach the JV2 squad (if fielded), including game management and practice planning as appropriate. Provide support during JV and varsity games and events as needed. Safety & Supervision: Ensure proper warm-up, cool-down, and conditioning practices to promote health and injury prevention. Monitor athlete safety and behavior during all practices, games, and team events. Program Coordination: Collaborate with the Head Coach and other staff to align instruction, expectations, and development goals across all levels. Support program communication with families and school staff when appropriate. Compliance: Adhere to MIAA and NFHS regulations, school district policies, and safety protocols. Maintain required coaching certifications: NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching NFHS Concussion in Sports First Aid & CPR Certification MIAA Coaches Education Program CORI/SORI Background Check Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Basic knowledge of field hockey skills and rules. Enthusiasm for working with high school athletes and supporting their growth. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must meet MIAA and NFHS coaching certification requirements. Preferred Qualifications: Previous coaching or playing experience in field hockey. Experience working with younger or beginner-level athletes. Experience working with diverse student populations.
