JV Field Hockey Coach

Job Title: Junior Varsity (JV) Field Hockey Coach School: North Middlesex Regional High School Location: 19 Main St, Townsend, MA 01469 Job Type: Fall 2026 Season Job Description: North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Junior Varsity Field Hockey Coach to support the continued growth and development of its field hockey program. The ideal candidate will help student-athletes build fundamental skills, gain game experience, and prepare for varsity-level play, all while promoting a positive, inclusive, and educational athletic environment. The JV Coach reports to the Head Varsity Field Hockey Coach and the Athletic Director, working collaboratively to maintain a consistent philosophy across all levels of the program. Key Responsibilities: Skill Development & Game Preparation: Plan and lead practices that emphasize field hockey fundamentals, teamwork, and game strategies appropriate for JV-level athletes. Provide individualized instruction to help student-athletes improve technique, understanding of the game, and physical conditioning. Coach all JV games and manage in-game decisions, substitutions, and strategy. Mentorship & Positive Team Culture: Foster a respectful, team-oriented environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, accountability, and effort. Serve as a mentor to student-athletes and help them develop leadership, confidence, and resilience. Program Alignment & Collaboration: Work closely with the Head Coach to ensure consistency in team culture, expectations, and player development between JV and varsity. Support varsity program needs when appropriate and contribute to the overall success of the program. Academic & Personal Development: Encourage student-athletes to prioritize academics and maintain eligibility. Promote healthy habits, goal setting, and personal growth through sport. Safety & Compliance: Monitor athlete well-being and follow all safety guidelines, including proper warm-up, cool-down, and injury prevention. Maintain compliance with MIAA and NFHS regulations and school district policies. Complete and maintain required certifications, including: NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching NFHS Concussion in Sports First Aid & CPR Certification MIAA Coaches Education Program CORI/SORI Background Checks Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Knowledge of field hockey rules, techniques, and strategies. Experience working with high school-aged athletes in a coaching or instructional capacity. Strong communication and organizational skills. Must meet all MIAA and NFHS coaching certification requirements. Preferred Qualifications: Prior coaching experience at the JV or varsity level. Experience working with diverse student populations. Background as a former player at the high school or collegiate level. Salary: Per NMRSD Teacher Contract.
