Job Description:
North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a Head Varsity Boys Soccer Coach to lead and develop the boys' varsity soccer program. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing student-athletes with a positive and challenging athletic experience, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and personal growth. The Head Coach will oversee all aspects of the program, including practice planning, game strategies, and maintaining a safe and supportive team environment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong soccer background, leadership skills, and a commitment to fostering academic and athletic success. They will work closely with assistant coaches, athletic staff, and parents to support the development of student-athletes both on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Development:
Lead, develop, and implement a comprehensive training program that focuses on developing individual skills, tactical awareness, teamwork, and fitness.
Plan and conduct effective practices, both on and off the field, that promote skill progression, team play, and competitive performance.
Oversee all aspects of team preparation, including game strategies, practice schedules, and individual player development.
Student-Athlete Development:
Foster an inclusive, positive, and competitive environment where athletes of all skill levels can thrive.
Emphasize character building, sportsmanship, leadership, discipline, and resilience both on and off the field.
Work closely with student-athletes to set individual goals, track their progress, and encourage academic success.
Team Management & Supervision:
Supervise the team during all practices, games, and team events, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
Manage and collaborate with assistant coaches and other team personnel to ensure effective team management.
Establish and promote team policies and values, ensuring student-athletes are held to high standards of behavior.
Game Day Preparation & Strategy:
Prepare the team for competition, including game strategies, mental preparation, and logistics.
Observe and analyze the performance of opposing teams and adjust strategies accordingly.
Provide in-game leadership and decision-making to maximize team performance.
Communication & Collaboration:
Maintain open and regular communication with athletes, parents, school administration, and the athletic director.
Collaborate with other coaches, school staff, and parents to support student-athletes’ academic, athletic, and personal development.
Organize team events, meetings, and activities to foster community and team bonding.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure that all practices, games, and activities comply with North Middlesex School District policies, MIAA regulations, and safety standards.
Maintain required coaching certifications, including:
Concussion Training (NFHS or CDC-approved)
First Aid & CPR Certification
CORI/SORI Background Check
Promote a culture of safety, including the proper use of equipment, injury prevention, and concussion management.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school or collegiate level, with a strong background in soccer.
Ability to lead and motivate student-athletes, fostering an environment of teamwork, discipline, and personal growth.
Strong knowledge of soccer fundamentals, game strategies, and competitive play.
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to balance athletic and academic responsibilities for student-athletes.
Must meet all district and MIAA coaching requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field.
Previous coaching experience at the varsity level or a proven track record in competitive soccer.
Experience with sports performance training and injury prevention techniques.
Experience working with diverse student-athletes.
Salary:
Per NMRSD Coach Stipend Schedule.
