Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Coach for Boys' Varsity Soccer to lead and develop our boys soccer program. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for coaching youth athletes, and a background in sports and physical education. This role involves planning training sessions, fostering team spirit, and ensuring the safety and development of all players. Prior experience in coaching, teaching, or working with children is highly valued to create a positive and engaging environment for student-athletes.
Duties
- Develop and implement training programs tailored to the skill levels of the team members
- Lead practices, games, and team meetings to promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development
- Monitor player performance and provide constructive feedback to enhance individual growth
- Ensure all activities adhere to safety guidelines and promote a safe playing environment
- Manage behavior management strategies to maintain discipline and focus during practices and games
- Coordinate with school or organizational staff regarding schedules, tournaments, and events
- Foster a positive team culture that encourages respect, dedication, and enthusiasm for soccer
- Incorporate relevant physical education techniques, including elements from sports like basketball, cheerleading, climbing, martial arts (Judo), swimming, or karate as appropriate for training diversity
Requirements
- Prior experience in sports coaching, teaching physical education, or working with students in a youth sports setting
- Knowledge of lacrosse rules and gameplay is preferred; coaching experience in other sports such as basketball or cheerleading is a plus
- Experience working with children or adolescents with an emphasis on behavior management
- Ability to lead by example with strong communication skills and a positive attitude
- Demonstrated ability to organize practices effectively while maintaining safety standards
- Experience in childcare or teaching physical education will be considered an asset
- Certification in first aid or CPR is required
