About the Role
We are hiring for our Ponderay location. As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you'll be at the heart of our patient care experience. You'll work side-by-side with physicians and clinical staff to ensure every patient receives attentive, efficient, and high-quality care. From diagnostics to documentation, your contributions will help keep our clinics running smoothly and our patients feeling supported.
What You'll Do
- Collect thorough patient histories including chief complaint, health background, medications, and allergies
- Perform key diagnostic procedures: lensometry, refractometry, tonometry (including tonopen), muscle balance testing, pupil and anterior chamber assessments, visual field testing, and more
- Administer and document advanced tests such as OCT, topography, and visual fields
- Assist physicians with injections and minor surgeries, ensuring proper setup and documentation
- Scribe during exams and accurately enter data into EMR or paper charts
- Coordinate referrals, outside testing, and lab work
- Educate patients and assist with medication management
- Maintain exam room cleanliness, stock supplies, and calibrate equipment
- Rotate between three clinic locations based on operational needs
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in ophthalmology or a medical office preferred
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy clinical environment
- Professional, friendly demeanor and a team-first attitude
- Sharp attention to detail and accurate documentation skills
