About the Role
We are hiring for our new Ponderay location. As an Ophthalmic Technician Supervisor, you'll will work closely with the Operations Manager to oversee a designated team of clinic technicians. The main responsibility of a Technician Supervisor is to serve as support for his/her assigned clinic doctors and serve as an integral part of our patient care strategy. As a working supervisor, this position will work collaboratively with the physicians and technicians to perform basic, advanced and complex manual and automated medical tests to assist in proper medical diagnosis. This position requires excellent computer skills and to communicate efficiently with patients, physicians and other staff members. Must be flexible in work assignments and schedule, demonstrate commitment to ongoing training and uphold to the highest ethical principles of maintaining confidentiality.
What You'll Do
Works collaboratively with the Operations Manager to train all new and existing technicians on new technology, procedures, etc.
Work-up patients; scribe while physician examines patient, accurately entering information into electronic medical records.
Assists the Operations Manager with implementation of new protocols.
Assists our team of doctors throughout the exam process by ensuring that techs are guiding patients through exams thoroughly, monitoring patient wait times, and making sure proper testing is being performed as ordered by physicians.
Must have the ability to perform all pre-test scans and teach technicians how to perform all scans.
Monitors and helps improve technicians' overall performance; must have the ability to coach technicians effectively and professionally.
Manage technicians' work schedules and time off requests (making sure that the clinic is staffed sufficiently according to the patient schedule).
Maintains inventory and submits order requests to Operations Manager as needed.
Quizzes technicians on procedures performed, our technology, and LASIK/cataract questions to ensure that techs are giving patients accurate information.
Ensure technicians are always providing exceptional patient care.
Overseas and leads all technicians by example by creating a fun, accountable and inspired work environment.
Triages patient concerns over the phone or in-person in a timely manner.
Coordinate with other department supervisors as needed.
What You Bring
High school diploma or its equivalent
Current COMT, COT, or COA certification required within 6 months of hire
5 years of comprehensive Ophthalmology experience
