Job Summary:
The Healthcare Support Specialist is one of the primary points of contact for the medical office. The Healthcare Support Specialist helps coordinate the care of the patients and serves as a liaison with the patient, medical staff, and provider of care.

The Healthcare Support Specialist is one of the primary points of contact for the medical office. The Healthcare Support Specialist helps coordinate the care of the patients and serves as a liaison with the patient, medical staff, and provider of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors, in person or over the phone.
- Registers walk-in new patients and updates and verifies existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information, including personal and insurance or financial information.
- Checks patients in through intake facilitating patient flow by notifying the provider of the patient’s arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff.
- Schedules in house MRI’s and referrals.
- Scheduling and rescheduling of future patient appointments.
- Collecting patient copays, coinsurances, and allowable payments and reconciling these payments at the end of each day in your daily batch ledger.
- Verifying Insurance
- Prepping Clinic Schedules
- Responds to patients, prospective patients, and visitors' inquiries courteously.
- Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
- Keeps office supplies within the clinic adequately stocked by anticipating inventory.
- All other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical Experience Preferred
- 6 months, plus of relevant experience scheduling in a medical office environment
- Experience working with medical EHR, Athena experience preferred.
- Experience in Orthopedics or Pain Management is a plus
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Travel to cover different locations may be required
- Able to stand and sit for extended periods of time
- Able to lift 25 pounds or more
