Please join our team of corrections professionals with the ND Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The DOCR is seeking a Full-Time Instructor to join our education team and support programming within the North Dakota State Penitentiary. The position is a 40-hour work week Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The position includes employer paid family state health insurance. A teaching license is required. Those with a substitute teaching license are also encouraged to apply. Salary will be determined by the salary schedule.
Summary of Work
This position will supervise and support maximum custody adult males at the North Dakota State Penitentiary with the Education Department. Instruction will be through whole class, small group, one-to-one, or indirect with supervision. Instructional content is aimed towards the GED examination, enrichment, a high school diploma, or a combination. This is a year-round position.
Duties and Tasks
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of educational programming, communicate effectivity with diverse persons, function well as a team member, and work effectively and daily with adults in custody. Must be able to successfully complete an interview, a standard background check, and a criminal record check.Requires a bachelor’s degree. Preference will be given to applicants with a bachelor’s degree in a teaching field and/or a North Dakota teaching or substitute teaching license.

Please join our team of corrections professionals with the ND Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The DOCR is seeking a Full-Time Instructor to join our education team and support programming within the North Dakota State Penitentiary. The position is a 40-hour work week Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The position includes employer paid family state health insurance. A teaching license is required. Those with a substitute teaching license are also encouraged to apply. Salary will be determined by the salary schedule.
Summary of Work
This position will supervise and support maximum custody adult males at the North Dakota State Penitentiary with the Education Department. Instruction will be through whole class, small group, one-to-one, or indirect with supervision. Instructional content is aimed towards the GED examination, enrichment, a high school diploma, or a combination. This is a year-round position.
Duties and Tasks
- Instruct students within content areas.
- Counsel and tutor students as necessary.
- Participate in teacher meetings and training.
- Keep records and collect data.
- Communicate with stakeholders and colleagues on student progress.
