Position Overview:
As a Surgery Scheduler, you will play a key role in coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures, ensuring accurate documentation, and facilitating communication between providers, patients, and surgical facilities. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Hourly Range: $21.00 - $24.00, based on years of relevant experience
Responsibilities:
- Schedule surgical procedures based on provider availability, facility capacity, and patient needs
- Coordinate pre-operative requirements, including labs, imaging, authorizations, and medical clearances
- Schedule imaging, procedures, and clinic appointments as needed
- Obtain and verify insurance benefits and prior authorizations for procedures
- Communicate surgery details, preparation instructions, and expectations to patients
- Serve as a liaison between providers, operating rooms, anesthesia teams, and outside facilities
- Ensure all required documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted on time
- Maintain and update patient records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
- Monitor surgery schedules and adjust for cancellations or urgent cases
- Respond to patient questions regarding scheduling and procedure preparation
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, payer requirements, and organizational policies
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in surgery scheduling, medical office operations, or healthcare coordination required
- Knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and insurance authorization processes
- Experience working with EMR systems
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
