Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position
Elective teachers are responsible for delivering specialized instruction in subject areas that enrich the overall educational experience and broaden students’ academic exposure. Their role is to engage students in dynamic, interest-based learning that supports creativity, critical thinking, and college readiness. By designing meaningful lesson plans, fostering a supportive classroom environment, and participating in program activities, elective teachers play a vital part in encouraging students to explore new ideas, develop academic confidence, and build essential life skills.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The TRIO Upward Bound Program is a federally funded initiative that provides academic support, college preparation, and personal development services to first-generation and low-income high school students, helping them succeed in high school and pursue postsecondary education.
Work Hours
Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
