The North Adams Public Schools District is seeking a Director of Student Support Services. We are looking for an engaged, equity-minded leader to coordinate and direct student support services across the district. This role is part of the Superintendents Cabinet and is responsible for collaboratively leading the district to empower all learners. To assist the Superintendent in all matters related to students and their success in school.Supervision: Reports to the SuperintendentPerformance Responsibilities: 1.Lead and implement strategic vision for district and school based programming and program implementation for student services including this following: special education, guidance and school adjustment counselor services, health and wellness services, Board Certified Behavioral Analysts, homeless education, transportation services, and 504 plans.2.Collaborate with superintendent, district leaders, and school leaders to ensure alignment of programming and services to the district and school improvement plans.3.Collaborate with principals and district administrators on the hiring and recruitment of all student services personnel.4.Designs and implements professional development, in collaboration with district leaders and school leaders, to build capacity of general education staff and student services staff, including educators providing specialized instruction.5.Regularly visit school and district programs and monitor implementation of student support services.6.Evaluate, modify, and develop programs within the student services area and monitor the procurement of materials, technology, and contractual services for the student services program.7.Collaborate with the district business office to develop the district and school budgets, and monitor such budgets to ensure equitable distribution of resources for the student services program.8.Write and manage federal and state entitlement grants related to student services, and apply for and manage competitive grants related to student services.9.Develop and implement procedures for compliance with federal and state laws and regulations regarding student services.10.Prepare data reports, including state and federal reports in all areas of student services.11.Coordinate, with the district business office, contracted student services program and staff, support personnel, Medicaid and Circuit Breaker reimbursements, and specialized transportation.12.Provide oversight and coordination of DESE monitoring activities as required, including but not limited to: Integrated Monitoring Review, Mid-Cycle Reviews, Proportionate Share, etc.13.Coordinates, responds to, and successfully submits all documentation required for PRS complaints, BEAS referrals, and processes, and any other state or federally-required reporting expectations.14.Collaborate with local, regional and state agencies and organizations that support students and their families.15.Maintain current knowledge of best practices, laws, and regulations related to student services, including special education.16.Collaborate with and support the Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) and attend such meetings regularly.17.Serve on the Superintendent's Cabinet and the District Leadership Team.18.Serve on committees and teams as directed by the superintendent.19.Perform all other duties as assigned by the superintendent of schools.The Committee's policy of nondiscrimination will extend to students, staff, the general public, and individuals with whom it does business; No person shall be excluded from or discriminated against in admission to a public school of any town or in obtaining the advantages, privileges, and courses of study of such public school on account of age, race, color, sex, gender identity, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability or homelessness.
