Position Overview
The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, standards-aligned mathematics instruction that prepares students for high school coursework and state assessments. The ideal candidate will foster a classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and student ownership of learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-based instruction aligned to Tennessee Academic Standards
- Utilize data (TCAP, benchmark assessments, and formative measures) to inform instruction and intervention
- Implement effective instructional strategies, including differentiation and targeted support for diverse learners
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction to ensure mastery of grade-level standards
- Collaborate with PLC teams to analyze data, develop common assessments, and refine instructional practices
- Maintain a structured, positive classroom environment that supports student engagement and achievement
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
Qualifications
- Valid Tennessee teaching license with appropriate endorsement (or eligibility for licensure)
- Strong content knowledge in middle school mathematics
- Demonstrated ability to use data to drive instruction
- Effective classroom management and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to collaboration and continuous professional growth
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching middle school mathematics, particularly 8th grade
- Familiarity with instructional technology and data platforms (e.g., MasteryConnect, i-Ready)
