Reports to: Coordinator of Youth Programs

Since 1975 Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA) has been an essential part of the Kansas City metro. Our mission is to improve the lives of those impacted by sexual abuse and assault, and to prevent sexual violence in our community. MOCSA is an award-winning employer with a commitment to innovation, evidence-based practices, and trauma stewardship. We are seeking someone who enjoys working with youth in schools and can provide positive, inclusive leadership to MOCSA’s youth programs. MOCSA offers flexible scheduling with a hybrid in-office and remote work setting.

Summary

Provide sexual violence prevention and education programming to the community and provide support and crisis intervention services for survivors of sexual assault and abuse.

JOB OBJECTIVES

  • Prevention Education
    • Facilitate sexual abuse, harassment, and assault prevention and healthy relationship education programs to youth and adult community members.
    • Inform victims of sexual violence of their rights and services available to them.
    • Perform outreach and relationship-building activities through contact with community partners.
    • Give presentations and facilitate small group sessions for youth and adult community members.
    • Represent MOCSA at community events and meetings.
    • Assist with program adaptation, evaluation, data collection, and grant reporting.
  • Crisis Intervention
    • Provide crisis intervention, support, and referrals to callers to the 24-Hour Support and Crisis Line during business hours and afterhours when on-call.
    • Provide hospital and police advocacy to adolescent and adult victims of sexual assault during business hours and afterhours when on-call.
    • Serve as staff-on-call, managing the operation of the crisis line and victim advocacy response after regular business hours on occasion throughout the year; and supervise volunteers while on-call.
The responsibilities described represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to do all assigned responsibilities. Grant funds may only be used for the provision of approved activities.

Knowledge/Skills/Licensure/Certification

Minimum Qualifications

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, or related field or a combination of five years of equivalent education and/or work experience. Experience working with youth. Demonstrated skills and experience in public speaking and customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous training in sexual abuse or sexual assault. Experience in crisis intervention, community education, and/or community organizing. Fluency in Spanish.

Physical Demands

Work is typically performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Mental Demands

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve non-routine and complex problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks; work under intensive deadlines with frequent interruptions; and interact with faculty, staff, administration, funders, and others encountered in the course of work.

WORK HOURS

This is a full-time position; business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. MOCSA offers flexible scheduling with a hybrid work setting.

TRAVEL

Frequent travel throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area to perform education, prevention and crisis intervention services.

Benefits

Full time benefits include 15 days of vacation, 15 paid holidays, 12 sick days, birthday holiday, winter break, 89% employer covered health insurance, 100% employer paid dental, life, and long-term disability Insurance, EAP, and 2% 403(b) match.

The salary range for this position is $47,500 - $56,000. The base salary range for this role is determined by several factors, including but not limited to education, skills, licensure and certifications, and experience. The upper portion of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees, and/or those with advanced credentials.
