About The Role
We are looking for a Import Supervisor to join our dynamic team at Noatum Logistics. In this role, the Import Supervisor oversees daily import operations to ensure efficient, compliant, and cost effective transportation services. This role develops a strong understanding of client requirements, ensures regulatory compliance, manages team performance, and supports operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise import transportation and logistics operations, ensuring service quality, cost control, and compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop direct reports; conduct performance reviews and support ongoing training and development.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels, including interviewing and hiring as needed.
- Coordinate team meetings and communicate company objectives, operational updates, and client information.
- Manage and support assigned key accounts, ensuring service expectations and financial objectives are met.
- Monitor key performance indicators, client margins, and service quality; implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Determine carrier and service strategies to optimize cost, margin, and operational reliability.
- Develop, document, and implement standard operating procedures to support consistent service delivery and best practices.
- Ensure all required transportation and customs documentation is complete, accurate, and released in a timely manner.
- Oversee accurate billing, cost control, and profitability in accordance with approved pricing.
- Prepare management reports and operational metrics as requested.
- Negotiate carrier rates and submit for approval as required.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, carriers, agents, and internal stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in Quarterly Business Reviews.
- 5–10 years of operational experience in international transportation, preferably with a global logistics provider
- Bachelor’s degree in business, transportation, logistics, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Proven ability to establish, follow, and lead import and supply chain processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- CargoWise experience
- Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) experience, including Customs Bonds CF7512 processing and administration
- Certified Customs Specialist certification
- Working knowledge of U.S. and international trade laws and regulations related to import and export operations
