A Day in the Role
You arrive to a clean, safe work environment and review blueprints for the day’s jobs. You choose tooling, set up a Tornos (and at times Acme or Gridley), and dial in the machine until the first piece meets exact specifications. Throughout the run, you monitor quality with precision gauges, make calculated adjustments, and keep the line humming. If an issue arises, you troubleshoot, perform routine maintenance, and get production back on track—because you know every micron matters.
What You’ll Do
- Operate manual and automated machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.
- Maintain and repair machine tools and equipment to keep production consistent.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, or technical orders to determine required operations.
- Measure finished workpieces with precision instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
- Set up and adjust multi‑spindle screw machines, including Tornos, Acme, and Gridley.
