Summary
SUMMARY: Under the direction of the IT Infrastructure Supervisor, the Network Engineer's role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice and data network services via Enterprise and Life Critical wired and wireless network topologies. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. Participates in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. Performs analysis and resolves network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provides end user training where required. Ensures all Enterprise and Life Critical network infrastructure maintains current information security posture by managing all Intrusion Protection/Detection Systems, Virtual Private Networks, Access Control Servers, and Firewalls. Maintains productive, collaborative relationships with team members, leadership, end users and vendors, by communicating and providing information regarding network status, workarounds, issues, necessary upgrades, as well as new component implementation and design. Prepares and provides documentation as appropriate for designated network and systems. Provides 24x7 on-call support as functional escalation for Enterprise and Life Critical Network issues.
EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years working with network routers, switches, wireless networking, firewalls, VPNs, RFID and VoIP equipment.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Ascom Wireless Network and Systems Administration. Familiarity with Telecommunications Standards. Familiarity with Storage Area Networking. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
LICENSE/CERT: , CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) within 6 months of hire Preferred: ASE (Architecture Systems Engineer ), CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), HP AIS (Accredited Integration Specialist)
