What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hole Watch / Confined Space Attendant position at Niles Industrial Coatings?
Summary of Position
We are seeking a reliable, safety‑focused individual to serve as a Confined Space Attendant /Hole Watch at an industrial job site. This is a 3‑month entry‑level safety assignment with the potential to transition into a full‑time position for the right candidate based on performance, attendance, and safety commitment.
The Hole Watch plays a critical safety role by monitoring employees working inside confined spaces and ensuring all safety procedures are followed at all times. This position does not enter confined spaces.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as designated Hole Watch / Safety Watch for confined space work
- Monitor workers entering and exiting confined spaces
- Maintain constant visual and/or verbal communication with confined space entrants
- Ensure confined space permits and safety requirements are followed
- Watch for unsafe conditions, hazards, or changes in the environment
- Prevent unauthorized entry into confined spaces
- Immediately alert supervision or emergency response if an unsafe situation occurs
- Remain attentive and on post for the duration of confined space work
- Follow all site‑specific safety rules, OSHA requirements, and company policies
Required Qualifications
- Entry‑level position – Minimal prior confined space experience required
- Strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail
- Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods
- Good communication skills
- Ability to follow safety procedures precisely
- Reliable transportation to job site
- Ability to work 7 days a week, including weekends
- Must be able to pass a drug screen
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must comply with all plant and client safety requirements
- Must be able to work 7 days per week
