Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on senior buyer with strong manufacturing purchasing experience to support procurement activities for production materials, mechanical and electrical components, and operational supplies. This role will work closely with Engineering, Production, Planning, Quality, and Accounting to ensure materials are delivered on time while maintaining cost and quality objectives.
The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage purchasing activities for production and operational materials
- Create and maintain purchase orders within ERP/MRP systems
- Follow up with suppliers on pricing, lead times, shortages, and deliveries
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and supplier terms
- Source and qualify new suppliers as needed
- Support material planning and inventory management activities
- Coordinate closely with Engineering and Manufacturing regarding BOM requirements and material changes
- Resolve supplier, receiving, and invoice discrepancies
- Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and cost
- Support cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier data
- Assist with urgent production requirements and expedite critical materials when needed
Qualifications
- 5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in manufacturing
- Semiconductor, robotics, automation, or industrial manufacturing experience preferred
- Strong ERP/MRP system experience required
- Strong Microsoft Excel and computer skills
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience purchasing mechanical, electrical, or automation components
- Experience working with domestic and international suppliers
- Knowledge of inventory control and supply chain processes
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
