Transportation Clerk
The Transportation Clerk plays a crucial role in the company’s supply chain by providing administrative and operational support to the transportation department. Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Pay: Negotiable
Responsibilities:
- Inventory Assistance: May assist with inventory counts and balanced as needed.
- Reporting: Run and create daily, weekly, and monthly reports on transportation metrics for management review.
- Shipment Tracking: Track the status of shipments and monitor driver logs and routes using transportation management software.
- Administrative Support: Perform general clerical duties, including data entry, filing, and processing transportation- related paperwork.
- Problem-Solving: Resolve issues such as shipment delays, discrepancies, and missing paperwork in a timely and professional manner.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date transportation records and logs, including mileage and vehicle maintenance information.
- Compliance: Ensure that all transportation activities are in compliance with company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Communication: Handle incoming calls and emails from drivers, customers, and other departments to provide updates and resolve transportation-related issues.
- Documentation Management: Prepare, verify, and process all inbound and outbound shipment documents, such as bills of lading, shipping manifests, and invoices.
- Coordination and Scheduling: Assist in the scheduling and dispatching of vehicles for pickups and deliveries. Coordinate with drivers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate shipments.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Associate’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience with transportation or warehouse management systems (TMS/WMS).
- Previous experience in a clerical, administrative, or transportation/logistics role is preferred.
- Customer service-oriented mindset.
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites, especially Excel.
