Estimator Commercial Construction
Location: Washington, D.C.
Salary: $100,000 to $140,000 base
A leading commercial contractor is seeking an Estimator with 5 years of experience supporting negotiated commercial projects. This role partners closely with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners to deliver accurate, presentation-ready cost solutions from early concept through subcontract execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead estimates from initial concept through subcontract award
- Develop conceptual, schematic, and detailed estimates across all scopes
- Identify cost risks, ask the right questions, and deliver complete evaluations
- Prepare variance analyses, value engineering studies, and cost presentations
- Manage the full bidding process including bid packages, analysis, and negotiations
- Present cost and budget information directly to owners and project teams
- Support RFP responses and help grow relationships with new and existing clients
Qualifications
- 5 years of commercial estimating experience
- Strong understanding of unit costs and construction cost drivers
- Comfortable estimating across all trades and project phases
- Experience with WinEst, Timberline, or similar estimating tools
- Proficient with takeoff software, BIM tools, and project management systems
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
