What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Bookeeper position at Nexus?
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented full-time Construction Bookkeeper with 3–5 years of relevant experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of construction accounting practices, including job costing, progress billing, and retainage. This role is critical to ensuring accurate financial management across multiple projects and supporting the company’s overall financial health.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
- Perform detailed job costing and track project expenses against budgets and monitor cash flow
- Process subcontractor invoices, vendor payments, and purchase orders
- Prepare and manage progress billing (AIA billing) and track retainage
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial statements
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and job cost reports
- Support payroll processing, including allocation of labor costs to specific projects
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking of jobs
- Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations
- Assist with year-end closing, audits, and tax preparation
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of bookkeeping experience in the construction industry
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple company and vendor accounts in timely manner
- Chinese and English bilingual
