Payroll Specialist / Payroll Analyst
We are seeking a detail-oriented payroll professional to support payroll operations, compliance, and process improvement initiatives within a fast-paced organization. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while serving as a subject matter expert for payroll-related inquiries, reporting, and operational support. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical abilities, advanced Excel skills, and experience collaborating cross-functionally with HR, Accounting, and Legal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage payroll processes to ensure accurate employee payments and reporting
- Support payroll tax processing, garnishments, deductions, and general payroll operations while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations
- Troubleshoot payroll issues, support escalations, and provide resolution recommendations
- Participate in payroll-related projects, including testing, system updates, implementations, and process enhancements
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational standardization to improve payroll accuracy and efficiency
- Partner with Human Resources, Accounting, Legal, and other internal stakeholders to address payroll concerns and ensure compliance
- Analyze payroll data and reporting to support business decisions and operational improvements
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive employee and payroll information
- Support additional projects and operational initiatives as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong understanding of payroll operations, compliance, and reporting
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas
- Ability to analyze large data sets and apply data-driven decision-making
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting internal stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- 4 years of progressive payroll experience
- Experience with HR systems, payroll applications, reporting tools, and system integrations
- Project or process management experience
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred
