Test Engineer

**The Opportunity**

Nextech Solutions (NTS) is seeking a Test Engineer - Unmanned Systems (UxS) to support the testing, evaluation, and fielding of multi-domain unmanned systems (e.g. air, ground, and maritime).

This hands-on role focuses on validating system performance, ensuring operational readiness, and supporting rapid fielding of emerging UxS technologies in laboratory and realistic operational environments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong, and comfortable working in dynamic field settings.

**Key Responsibilities (Principal Duties and Accountabilities *Essential Functions)**

• Plan and execute testing of multi-domain Unmanned Systems (UxS) in lab, controlled, and field environments to evaluate performance against requirements.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret test data to assess system reliability, interoperability, safety, and effectiveness.
• Prepare clear, concise test plans, reports, data summaries, and after-action reviews documenting findings and recommendations.
• Collaborate with engineering, integration, and program teams to identify issues, troubleshoot anomalies, and implement corrective actions.
• Support UxS fielding events, exercises, demonstrations, and customer evaluations, including setup, execution, and teardown at test ranges and forward locations.
• Serve as alternate pilot/operator for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) during testing activities.
• Track test outcomes, risks, and deficiencies to support program decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Adapt quickly to evolving priorities and mission-driven test schedules.
  
  

**Requirements**

• Fluency in English (written and spoken)
• Must meet eligibility requirements for a U.S. Top Secret / SCI security clearance
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Level II Flight Physical for UAS operations (as alternate pilot)
  
  

**Education**

• Associates degree required
• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related technical field highly preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  
  

**Required Skills, Experience and Abilities**

• Hands-on experience testing systems or equipment (UxS / drone testing experience strongly preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify issues while clearly explaining system functionality
• Flexible schedule to support varying test timelines and urgent mission-driven requirements
  
  

**Preferred Qualifications**

• Comfort working in technical environments and eagerness to engage with complex unmanned systems
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional engineering team
• Familiarity with government test standards, safety protocols, and operational procedures
• Initiative, ownership of tasks, and comfort operating in ambiguous or fast-paced settings
• Positive attitude toward safety, following protocols, and continuous learning
