As a Staff Accountant, you’ll be a key contributor to the organization’s financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. This hands-on role supports daily accounting activities while partnering closely with the Controller and internal teams. Your work will directly impact billing accuracy, cash flow, compliance, and process improvements in a growing, fast-paced environment.

Here’s how you’ll make an impact on the team:
- Review customer contracts to identify AIA requirements and prepare compliant billing documentation.
- Partner with Project Managers to manage AIA schedules and invoice progress.
- Invoice completed projects accurately and on time, including AIA-based billing.
- Upload invoices to customer portals within 24 hours and ensure compliance with portal requirements.
- Set up and maintain customer records, billing details, and compliance documentation (COIs, tax exemptions).
- Identify customer-specific insurance or compliance requirements and escalate issues as needed.
- Calculate, process, and ensure timely remittance of state and local sales tax.
- Prepare and enter weekly direct labor hours into the ERP system.
- Support labor cost and margin analysis as requested.
- Prepare monthly accruals and allocations for expenses such as insurance, medical benefits, and mobile services.
- Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly expense analyses.
- Assist with annual CPA review preparation.
- Maintain daily AR check logs and provide daily deposit summaries.
- Support AR collections related to AIA and portal-based invoicing.
- Maintain subsidiary ledgers for affiliated entities.
- Manage IFTA tax reporting and IRP DMV renewals.
- Submit required program reporting and support ad-hoc accounting initiatives.
Here’s what you’ll need to be successful in this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
- 7 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably in a small-to-mid-sized, privately held organization.
- Prior experience in construction, signage, or project-based environments strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced).
- ERP system experience preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
- Comfort working in evolving environments with developing processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Pay Range:
$65,000 - $73,000 annually
