What are the responsibilities and job description for the Multi-Unit Manager position at Next Level Burger?
Multi-Unit Manager
Location: Field-based / Multi-unit travel required (region to be discussed) Job Type: Full-Time Department: OperationsReports To: Director of Operations / VP of Operations
About the Role
We're looking for a driven, experienced Multi-Unit Manager to oversee a portfolio of restaurant locations within an assigned market or region. This role owns the performance of every store in their portfolio — sales, profitability, guest experience, and team development — and is accountable for building strong General Managers who can run great restaurants independently.
You'll spend most of your time in the field, moving between locations, coaching leadership teams, and stepping in wherever a store needs support. This is a leadership role for someone who has already proven they can run a single restaurant at a high level and is ready to own results across several.
What You'll Do
Multi-Unit Leadership
- Own full operational and financial performance across all assigned locations
- Conduct regular store visits, operational audits, and walkthroughs to assess standards across food safety, quality, speed, cleanliness, and guest experience
- Set clear performance expectations for each General Manager and hold them accountable to results
- Identify underperforming locations and build/execute turnaround plans
- Roll out new initiatives, menu changes, and systems consistently across the portfolio
People Leadership & Development
- Recruit, hire, coach, and develop General Managers for each location
- Build bench strength by identifying and developing high-potential Assistant Managers into future GMs
- Conduct performance reviews, corrective action, and succession planning for management teams
- Deliver or coordinate training for new GMs during onboarding and ongoing development
- Foster a strong culture of accountability, teamwork, and guest focus across all locations
Financial & Operational Ownership
- Own P&L performance for each location in the portfolio, including sales growth, labor cost, food cost, and controllable expenses
- Review and approve budgets, forecasts, and labor plans with each GM
- Analyze reporting and KPIs across the portfolio to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Ensure inventory management, ordering, and waste control practices are followed consistently
- Manage capital requests, facilities issues, and equipment escalations across locations
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure every location maintains full compliance with health codes, food safety regulations, and labor law
- Oversee safety protocols and incident response across the portfolio
- Conduct or oversee internal audits and ensure timely resolution of any compliance gaps
- Partner with HR on employee relations issues, investigations, and policy enforcement
Guest Experience
- Monitor guest satisfaction scores, reviews, and feedback across all locations
- Coach GMs on guest recovery and service recovery best practices
- Ensure consistent brand execution and guest experience across every location in the portfolio
What We're Looking For
- 3 years of experience as a General Manager, with prior multi-unit oversight or a strong track record of running top-performing locations
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop other managers — not just individual contributors
- Strong financial acumen: comfortable owning and analyzing P&L, labor, and food cost across multiple locations
- Deep knowledge of restaurant operations, food safety, and labor compliance
- Ability to diagnose performance issues quickly and build actionable plans to fix them
- Excellent communication and influence skills — able to hold GMs accountable while building trust and buy-in
- Highly organized, able to manage competing priorities across several locations at once
- Willingness to travel regularly within the assigned market/region
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Nice to Have
- Experience opening new restaurant locations or overseeing new store launches
- Background in formal training, operations excellence, or field leadership roles
- Familiarity with restaurant scheduling, inventory, and reporting systems

- Competitive salary and performance-based bonus structure
- Vehicle allowance or mileage reimbursement per company policy
